UP Account Opening Rewards – All about the Campaign

The UP Account Opening Rewards Campaign (“Campaign” ) is a promotional campaign organized by CGS International Securities Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as CGS-CIMB Securities Sdn Bhd.) (“CGS MY” ). This Campaign is open to new clients of CGS MY (eligibility as defined in Section A below) who apply and successfully open a UP account via the UP mobile application with CGS MY from 8 April 2025 until 8 April 2026, both dates inclusive (“Campaign Period” ).

The Terms and Conditions of the Campaign are as set out below.

A. Eligibility

1. Subject to the Terms and Conditions contained herein, the Campaign is open to new retail clients of CGS MY who:

  1.     a.   apply for successfully open a new UP account; and
  2. b.   register with the UP mobile application of CGS MY during the Campaign Period (“Account(s)”).
  3.     Each such client is referred to as an “Eligible Client”, and collectively, they are referred to as the “Eligible Clients”.

2. No participation form is required to be completed for the purpose of participating in the Campaign as Eligible Clients are automatically enrolled in the Campaign.

3. Ineligible Clients: The following persons and/or accounts are NOT eligible to participate in the Campaign:

  • Employees, directors, and dealer's representatives of CGS MY.

4. Notwithstanding the above, CGS MY has the full discretion to determine the eligibility of any client to participate in the Campaign and CGS MY reserves the absolute right to reject any Eligible Client’s participation in this Campaign without assigning a reason.

B: Campaign Mechanics

5. Initial Funding Reward

  1.     (a)   Eligible Clients who:

            (i)   make an initial aggregate deposit of more than RM100 into their UP Account upon account opening; and

    (ii)   maintain a positive net cumulative account balance in their UP Account from the date of account opening until the first 3 months of the Campaign Period which ends on 8 July 2025;

  2. will be deemed as “Qualified Clients” and shall be entitled to receive a bundle of Bursa Malaysia Fractional Stocks (“Initial Funding Reward”) based on [the trading prices of the Bursa Malaysia Fractional Stocks on Bursa Malaysia as at such date and time to be selected by CGS MY in its sole and absolute discretion] calculated according to clause 5(c).

  3.     (b)   Steps to Qualify for the Initial Funding Reward:
  4.         (i)   Open an UP Account during the Campaign Period.

            (ii)   Deposit any amount more than RM100 into the Account during Campaign Period.

            (iii)   Upon completing the above steps ((i) to (ii)), the Initial Funding Reward will be credited to the Qualified Client’s Account.

  5.     (c)   The amount for the Initial Funding Reward will be calculated based on 10% of the unused amount deposited at the end of the first 3 months of the Campaign Period (8 July 2025) with an aggregate value of not more than RM100.
  6.     (d)   The Initial Funding Reward will be credited to the Qualified Client’s Account within 30 days after the first 3 months of the Campaign Period which ends on 8 July 2025.

6. Promotional Commission Rates

    (a)   Eligible Clients who:

        (i)   successfully open a new UP Account with CGS MY during the Campaign Period;

will be deemed as “Qualified Clients” and shall be eligible to receive a promotional zero commission rate in respect of buy trades executed by them on Bursa Malaysia through UP mobile application during the first 6 months of the Campaign Period which ends on 8 October 2025.

    (b)   For the avoidance of doubt, all sell trades will continue to be subject to the standard commission rates as outlined in our fee schedule found at https://cgsi.com.my/up/Pricing as updated from time to time.

    (c)   All other commission rates which can be found at https://cgsi.com.my/up/Pricing (as amended, modified and/or supplemented from time to time) will continue to apply during the Campaign Period. All other fees including, but not limited to, clearing fees, stamp duty fees, platform fees, trading fees, and settlement fees (where applicable), and goods and services tax, shall continue to be borne by the clients.

C: General Terms & Conditions

The General Terms and Conditions below shall govern all clients participating in the UP Account Opening Rewards Campaign who qualify for or receive any incentives under the Campaign, including but not limited to trading credits and rebates (collectively referred to as “Rewards” ). These clients shall collectively be referred to as “Campaign Clients.”

7. CGS MY reserves the right to publish or display the name, photos, and city of residence of any Campaign Clients for advertising and publicity purposes in any manner it deems appropriate. By accepting the Reward, the Campaign Clients consent to and agrees that CGS MY shall be at liberty to publish and/or display their names, photos and cities of residence without compensation.

8. By participating in the Campaign, the Campaign Clients are deemed to have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. The Campaign Clients further agree that all decisions made by CGS MY regarding any aspect of the Campaign, including but not limited to the Reward, the selection of Eligible Clients, and the determination of Campaign Clients, are final, binding and conclusive. No correspondence, queries, appeals or protests will be entertained.

9. All prices and values stated here are correct at the time of printing. Reward images shown in any marketing and advertisement collateral are for visual purposes only.

10. Campaign Clients shall be responsible for any costs whatsoever incurred in connection with the Reward:

  • a) Campaign Clients shall be responsible for paying any applicable taxes including sales & services tax, incidental cost and/or any other charges relating to any of the Reward unless stated otherwise. CGS MY shall not be held liable for any tax, incidental cost, charges, and/or damages incurred in connection with the crediting or user of the Reward, or due to any non-fulfilment by any of its agents or distributors or third-party providers.
  • b) The Reward is not transferable or exchangeable for cash or any other form of credit or in kind, whether in part or in full. It is non-withdrawable and can only be used for trading purposes within the UP Account.
  • c) The Reward may, where applicable, carry additional terms and conditions prescribed by third-party providers. In such cases, these additional terms and conditions shall apply in addition to the Terms and Conditions contained herein.

11. By participating in the Campaign, the Campaign Clients agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions herein and the terms and conditions governing the Campaign Clients’ respective Account(s) with CGS MY.

12. CGS MY reserves the right, without prior notice or assigning any reason whatsoever, to substitute the Reward with other item(s) of similar value. Any substitution made by CGS MY shall be considered as final, binding, and conclusive. The Reward under the Campaign does not include any accessories of items shown in any advertisements and/or promotional materials which are for photography purposes only.

13. To the fullest extent permitted by law, CGS MY expressly excludes and disclaims any representations, warranties, or endorsements, whether expressed or implied, written or oral, related to the availability, timelines and use of the Rewards. Additionally, CGS MY accepts no responsibility for any additional expenses, omissions, delays, re-routing, or actions taken by any government or authority.

14. While CGS MY will endeavour to credit the Reward to the Campaign Client’s e-Wallet promptly, there may be delays due to processing or other administrative factors. CGS MY shall not be responsible for any such delays, nor will any compensation be provided for delayed crediting of the Reward.

15. In no event will CGS MY be liable for any loss or damages (including without limitations, loss of income, profits or goodwill, direct or indirect, incidental consequential, exemplary, punitive or special damages suffered by the Campaign Clients or third parties) arising in any manner whether in contract, tort, negligence or otherwise, in connection with the Campaign. All such damages are expressly excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law.

16. CGS MY reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to:

  • (a) Extend, modify, shorten, discontinue, cancel, terminate, or suspend the Campaign with or without any prior notice. For avoidance of doubt, any such action shall not entitle any Campaign Clients to claim compensation or to seek remedy against CGS MY for any loss or damages suffered or incurred by the Campaign Clients as a direct or indirect result of any such act of extension, modification, discontinuation, cancellation, termination or suspension.
  • (b) Vary (whether by addition, deletion, modification, or any other form) (the “Amendment” ) any of the terms and conditions herein at any time. The Amendment shall be made at CGS MY’s absolute discretion and communicated through one or more of the following means: via email to the Campaign Clients’ last known email address maintained in CGS MY’s records or by posting on CGS MY’s website at https://www.cgsi.com.my. The Amendment shall be deemed as binding on the Campaign Clients from the date of notification of the Amendment or from such other date as may be specified by CGS MY (through one of the above means of communication).

17. These Terms and Conditions, as may be varied or amended from time to time pursuant to Clause 16, shall prevail over any provisions or representations contained in any other promotional materials advertising the Campaign.

18. The Campaign shall not be construed as an offer, recommendation, or solicitation to buy or sell any securities. All Campaign Clients are advised to make their own independent evaluation and to consult their professional advisers before undertaking any transaction.

19. All other terms and conditions applicable to general trading in the Account(s) shall continue to apply. Nothing herein shall affect CGS MY’s general terms and conditions and/or the Account(s) terms and conditions to which the Campaign Clients have agreed to.

20. Pursuant to the requirements the Personal Data Protection Act 2010, CGS MY is required to obtain Campaign Client's consent for the processing of client's personal data. By participating in the Campaign, the Campaign Clients consent to CGS MY’s processing of their personal data, provided now and from time to time, in connection with their participation in the Campaign (with reference to Clause 1) or for any current or future publicity and advertising materials of CGS MY relating to this Campaign. The Campaign Clients hereby confirms that they have read, understood and agrees to be bound by the CGS MY Group Privacy Notice (which is available at https://www.cgsi.com.my/en/privacy-policies ) (“Privacy Notice” ) and the terms herein, concerning the processing of their personal information. For the avoidance of doubt, the Campaign Clients agree that the Privacy Notice is deemed incorporated by reference into these Terms and Conditions.

21. The Campaign Clients agree and authorize CGS MY to disclose their details (including, but not limited to, name, NRIC number, telephone number and address) to the vendor/distributor/agent of CGS MY, as applicable or necessary, for the purpose of notifying and crediting of the Reward. All taxes, charges and incidental costs in this regard shall be borne by the Campaign Clients.

22. Any communication regarding the Rewards (e.g., eligibility, issuance, or other Reward-related matters), as deemed appropriate by CGS MY, will be communicated to Campaign Clients using their telephone numbers and/or email addresses maintained in CGS MY’s records. Campaign Clients are responsible for ensuring that their contact information is accurate and up to date. If a Campaign Client’s contact information changes and they fail to notify CGS MY before the Reward is issued, they may not receive such communication. In such cases, CGS MY reserves the right to forfeit the Reward.

23. CGS MY reserves the right to forfeit the Reward without any prior notice, under the following circumstances: -

  • a) The Campaign Clients are not contactable in accordance with clause 22.
  • b) The Campaign Clients have an Account(s) that is in contra loss (where the buy cost exceeds the sell proceeds, resulting in a contra loss which the Campaign Clients shall pay to the CGS MY).
  • c) For any other reason which CGS MY, in its absolute discretion, deems appropriate.

24. The provision of the Reward is at the absolute and sole discretion of CGS MY. CGS MY’s decision to forfeit any of such Reward for the reasons set out in clause 23(a) to (c) above, shall be considered as final, binding, and conclusive.

25. The Campaign and all the Terms and Conditions governing it, as set out herein, shall be governed by the laws of Malaysia. Campaign Clients agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Malaysia, but CGS MY will be at liberty to proceed against the Campaign Clients in any court of competent jurisdiction
